The Fed Announces Rates Will Hold Steady
The Federal Funds Rate is staying the same at 0 to .25%.
The Fed’s interest rate decision doesn’t directly affect mortgage rates, but today’s rates remain historically low.
Home owners and home buyers can take advantage of today’s low rates by:
- Buying a new home
- Refinancing to get a lower rate or eliminate mortgage insurance
- Financing home renovations
- Funding major expenses (like college tuition)
- Consolidating debt*

* Debt consolidation does not pay off the debt, please consult a financial advisor regarding the effect of consolidating short term debt into long-term debt.

Colorado Springs Woman Creates Sharing Fence to Help Those in Need

A neighbor in Downtown Colorado Springs finds a way to help others stay warm and positive this winter by creating a sharing fence on her front yard fence.
Cyndi Long moved back to Colorado Springs right as the pandemic was starting to hit Colorado and soon noticed quite a few homeless people walking around her neighborhood and wanted to help.
“I had a number of hats and gloves and those kinds of things that you collect that never quite fit right. So, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to put them to some good use,” Long said. “So, I created a sharing fence with the intent that if you needed it, take it. If you had something to spare, please leave it.”
Colorado Springs’ Construction Industry Was Booming in 2020

Colorado Springs’ construction industry hit boom times in 2020, despite pandemic
Business was booming last year for homebuilders, general contractors and subcontractors that make up the Pikes Peak region’s construction industry, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The estimated value of permits issued for the construction of single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, hotels, offices, schools, medical buildings, manufacturing plants and other structures last year in El Paso County soared to $2.9 billion — a record high and a nearly one-third jump over 2019, according to Pikes Peak Regional Building Department reports.
Best Frozen Waterfalls Around Colorado

Can you call it a waterfall if the water isn’t falling? We vote yes, and believe winter to be the coolest — see what we did there? — time to check out these frozen-over cascades. (Waterstill just doesn’t have the same ring to it.) In fact, waterfalls might be at their peak majesty when iced over and draped in newly fallen snow, creating a scene straight out of Arendelle or Narnia or some other idyllic, frosted land that isn’t in a children’s movie.
Hanging Lake may be the first spot you think of for impressive, wintry frozen falling water, but the Grizzly Creek fire burned areas above the trail and the lake, prompting White River National Forest Service officials to close the trail due to safety concerns. No reopening date has been announced.
Luckily, Colorado is full of falls. Here are nine frozen cascades sure to stun and inspire. All you need are warm clothes, common sense — some trails will be icy; some will be difficult to follow — and a spirit for adventure.
